Renewal and Resonance With O.G. Rose

A guest session for the Month of Renewal.
Cross-posted by The Resonant Man
"It was an honor and a joy to join The Resonant Man to discuss renewal, and I'm grateful for Jacob's excellent write-up and post-discussion. "

I recorded the above mini-podcast with O.G. Rose, our latest guest facilitator, immediately after he joined our weekly men’s circle to lead an exploration of the nature of renewal.

O.G. Rose is the author of Belonging Again, a philosopher, writer, homesteading father-of-four, and key collaborator and mentor in my thinking on resonance, evolving education, the crisis of liberal democracy, re-imagining religion, and more.

Many of us came away from the circle with a renewed recognition that we often unconsciously avoid the work of renewal by going out and searching for the ‘new’ in the form of new projects, new women, and new places to live. O.G.’s call for us to go deeper with what is already here in front of us landed deeply in the group.

O.G.’s talk also highlighted the tensions involved in renewal. What might become possible through the work of renewing our relationship with our partner, children, mission, or day jobs may not immediately be visible to us or the other people involved. Renewal therefore requires a kind of faith in futures that we cannot see, and a commitment to putting in the effort needed to get there with no guarantee we’ll arrive.

Paradoxically, in fully accepting, surrendering and rooting in to the path before us, we open doors of perception and possibility that would otherwise have remain closed. We realise that the ‘new’ we sought over there could be found here, within ourselves. As O.G. observed, every circumstance or relationship we find ourself in can be found to hold an ‘infinity’ of experience if we can only orient towards that possibility.

Renewal calls us to a grounded form of spirituality that both demands patient devotion to the day-to-day work before us on what we might call the ‘horizontal’ plane, and the continual cultivation of a connection with the ‘vertical dimension’ that lies beyond ordinary — the source of the eternal spark within that lets ‘all things be made new’.

Renewal of the Resonant Man Initiative

It’s been a remarkable and timely month for us to explore renewal since we’ve also been embarking on the renewal of the Resonant Man initiative on its one-year anniversary. We’ll have several announcements in the days ahead. Today we’d like to share the following:

Our New Landing Portal

Over the last few months, we’ve been building a new digital home for our initiative that more fully reflects the scope, vision and lineage of the Resonant Man.

There you can find a more extensive expression of our intent, read more about Jacob and Matthew’s projects, and learn about our guests and collaborators, as well as the luminaries who inspire us.

New Podcast Launch

The Resonant Man Podcast will launch later this month with an extended opening dialogue with Manu Llaguno — a men’s work leader from México and collaborator with Sacred Sons, a fast-growing men’s initiative based in the United States.

We envisage the Resonant Man podcast as a potent new platform for exploring the sacred evolution of masculinity in all its forms. We’ll engage leaders and collaborators across different fields. Drawing on insights gleaned through Jacob’s five-year project SENSESPACE, and Matthew’s work on What Is Collective Healing?, we conceive of this not merely as a podcast platform but an extension of The Resonant Man field — a space where the medicine flowing through our work can be accessed more widely, and where we can nourish the space we hold with new waters of wisdom.

We’ll also use the podcast to highlight the richness of the voices directly engaged in our men’s circle. Podcasts will be published to this Substack and on YouTube and Spotify through SENSESPACE, intended as ‘a journey into the heart of wisdom’.

Looking Ahead

We welcomed a number of new men into our weekly circle this past month. The richness of their contribution has been felt and mirrored in the warmth of the reception they received from the men already in the space.

We will continue to work to better ourselves as facilitators and to make this work available to more men.

We feel a deep sense of clarification about the months ahead, having prepared the circle for the Month of Grounded Vision in December and the Month of Sacred Fire in January. We are also very excited to be staging Soulstice, our annual retreat at Pitchcott Farm in Buckhinghamshire, from Friday June 19 to Sunday June 21 2026. Mark your calendars: More details and booking details coming soon.

Experience a Month of the Resonant Man for Free

We are offering men the opportunity to participate in four consecutive session of our weekly men’s circle (held on Sundays at 1900 UK time, for 90 minutes) at no cost. The intention is to give men who are considering participating in the Resonant Man an opportunity to experience our work before deciding whether to commit.

If this offer resonates, please drop us a line in response to this message, comment below, or book a 45-minute introductory call via our new website.

The cost of monthly membership is £125. (We do not want cost to be an obstacle for aligned men who are truly committed; some concessions are available).
